Series 2 Idea…
We know haven’t even finished our current project yet, but thoughts have turned to what we can do next. In reality, it’s hard to top whacking the running gear from a GT-Four into a Mini 1000 and presenting the car in the best possible way we can. We would like to do something a little easier and less complicated for the next project so as to bring the episodes out much faster for you.
So we’ve been thinking…
There are many ideas swirling round the unit, some utterly insane, some less so but our favourite at the moment is this: We build a brand new Caterham 270R but with a twist. We’re pretty sure that the future of motoring is in small capacity forced induction motors so we’re gonna junk the heavy 4-pot Ford motor and replace it with a Bad Obsession Motorsport developed Toyota 1KR-FE, 3 cylinder 1.0l engine, with a supercharger. We think we can get close to the magic 200bhp figure with all the punch of a supercharger out of an engine that weighs less than 70kg fully dressed. Marry this to a bomb proof Toyota 5 speed transmission and we think this would make an absolutely stunning track day car that could also be road legal.
There would be many obstacles on the way for us to overcome in true BOM style not least of which is this: we can’t afford it. To build the car the way we’d like to would cost in excess of £35,000 and quite frankly, we haven’t got that kind of dough just lying about the workshop, so this is the kicker….
We’re going to give it away.
Yes that’s right, we’re going to build it, develop it, love it, caress it gently and then give it away to one of you.
To make it happen we need people to subscribe to a new BOM-2 YouTube channel. To watch us build and develop the car is going to cost you £10.00 to subscribe to the channel and watch all the videos. Everyone who has subscribed will then get entered into a free prize draw to win the car. We think this is a pretty exciting project and we’d love to make it happen but for that we need your help. Once the project was completed, we’d move the videos back to the free channel for everyone who didn’t want to take part to enjoy.
There are many questions to answer and things to think about, but this is what we’re planning.
